Rebuild Your Smile with Dental Implants

Find out how implants can give you a full, beautiful smile again after tooth loss.

Dealing with tooth loss can feel rather overwhelming, which is why you shouldn’t do it alone. Our Fairfield, CT, dentist Dr. Joseph Worthington has been making it possible for adults to regain healthy, complete smiles thanks to dental implants. Wondering what dental implants are and how they replace missing teeth? You’ve come to the right place.

A dental implant may look like a simple metal post but it is designed to function just like tooth roots. This artificial tooth root is surgically placed into the jawbone where it naturally melds together with bone and tissue over the course of 3-6 months.

To determine your candidacy for getting dental implants, our Fairfield, CT, dentist will need to examine your smile and take x-rays to make sure that your jawbone is healthy enough to hold a dental implant.

Once we have determined that dental implants are right for you, the first step is to place the implant. This surgical procedure can be performed right here in our office. Once the implant is placed the first major part of the implant process is now over. Over the course of several months, the jawbone will bond with the implant in a process known as osseointegration.

Once osseointegration is complete, we will need to place an abutment on top of the implant. The abutment is a connector that links the implant, which lies under the gums, with the dental crown. Some dental implants already have built-in abutments and won’t require this extra step.

Once the abutment has been placed and the gums have fully healed then we can cement the dental crown on top of the abutment. When the crown has been placed the implant process is now complete.

Worthington Advanced Dentistry in Fairfield, CT, is dedicated to helping you get a healthy smile through dental implants. If you are interested in learning more about this restoration and how it could benefit you then call our office today to schedule a consultation.
